Nail Tutorial ~ Half Moon Mani

Hey everyone!

Today I have a cool manicure to share with you guys!  It's one of my favorites since it's so unique, yet super simple.  It's sort of like french tips with a twist and is just a stunner to look at.  I love this look for the summer, especially if you can coordinate your colors with your swimsuit!  A fun idea might be to invert the colors on your toes so they match, but in a more subtle way.

Let's get started!

You will need:

A base color that will become the "moon" part of the nail
Revlon Buttercup

A contrasting color that will be the main part of the nail
Sinful Colors Timbleberry

A good top coat
Essie Good to Go!

Reinforcement Labels

Step 1:

Paint your nails with the base color.  The lighter color of the two polishes should be the base since it is easier to layer dark on light.  It doesn't matter if the whole nail is not opaque since only the bottom portion can be seen at the end.  Make sure it COMPLETELY dries before moving on!!

Step 2:

Place a reinforcement sticker on the bottom of the nail.  Make sure it is not too far up or too low down and that the sides of the sticker are firmly on the nail so there are no gap bubbles to allow any polish to run through.

Step 3:

Paint the darker color over the lighter.  The reinforcement will create that moon shape at the bottom of the nail by protecting the moon portion of the nail.

Step 4:

Remove the reinforcement carefully, making sure not to damage the nail.

Step 5:

Finish off with a good top coat!

I absolutely love the hint of buttercup yellow to bring out a tan!  It is so much fun for any event and is super easy to achieve.  I can see this in a casual setting like on the beach or at a formal event like a wedding since different colors can be interchanged.  I would say it only takes 5 more minutes than a regular mani.  Have you guys ever tried a half mooned mani?  What is your favorite summer nail look?  Leave a comment down below!
