Drugstore Review ~ Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold

Hey lovelies!

Today is super exciting because it is the 1 month anniversary of our blog!  We are so grateful for how far we've come in this short span of time.  As a thank you present to all of our readers, stay tuned because later today we will be hosting our first BIG giveaway for our followers!

Lately I've been on the look out for a gold shadow that will have a major impact during the summer.  I've heard a lot of great things about the Maybelline Color Tattoo so I decided to give it a go and I love it!  It literally lasts forever and gives a great pop of color that just compliments a tan beautifully!

Keep reading to find out the details!

Price:  $6.99  ( I found mine for $4.99 at Harmon's!)
Packaging:  4/5
Overall:  4/5

Claim to Fame:

"Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant color that does not fade. :

Packaging:

The color tattoos come in a glass jar that are comparable to MAC paint pots.  I have a love-hate relationship with the jars.  I love them because they really protect the product from any falls and feels really classy and sturdy.  However, they are not ideal for travel since they are a tad bulky and heavy and can take up a lot of room.

Staying Power:

All I can say is WOW.  I am so impressed with the staying power!  I swatched it on my hand and then hopped out of the shower, thinking it would come off.  However, it miraculously STAYED ON and was just as vibrant when I got out of the shower.  After an extremely long and vigorous exercise the shadow might fade a little but for the most part, these shadows are here to stay.  I haven't had a creasing problem yet, which is also a major plus!

Vibrancy:

I know that a lot of the other shades are extremely vibrant, but the gold isn't as vibrant on one swatch as I would like it to be.  It takes about 3-4 swipes for intense pigmentation which is a little disappointing.

The Good:
  • Comparable but cheaper to MAC paint pots
  • Sturdy packaging
  • No creasing
  • Lasts FOREVER

The Bad:
  • Bulky packaging
  • Needs more than one swipe for maximum color
  • Price is a little much for only one color

Repurchase?

Because of its staying power, I am totally in love with these shadows!  It's great to have a super reliable shadow for parties and all-day wear that you know you don't have to touch up.  I can't wait to go out and buy more colors!

  2. I have 4 of these (bronze, teal, reddish & taupe) and my favorite so far is the teal... followed closely by the bronze. My next tattoo purchase will definately be the gold one. They really are great whether you are using them alone or layering with a powder.

  3. actually bad to the bronze is the only one i have so far. Lots of youtubers had raved about it as a colour you could wear alone so I picked it up. Its absolutely great! Sometimes i tap a yellowish gold shadow in the middle of my lid for a little more dimension. works everytime.
