DIY ~ Sugar Lip Scrubs

Happy Monday Beauties!

Today I have a fun DIY project for you guys to try out.  With all of the hot, dry weather my lips have become extremely chapped and sometimes even my favorite lip balm can't fully restore my lips.  When my lips become really flaky I know it's time to go to the next step and use a sugar scrub.  While I'm not one to make my own eyeshadow and lip gloss on a regular basis, lip scrubs are one of those things that I feel can be easily and cheaply made without going to Ulta or the Body Shop.  I've seen lip scrubs range from $8-25 which just seems ridiculous if you can make it at home with the same exact ingredients for a fraction of the price.

Keep reading to find out how you can make these super simple exfoliators!

Things you will need:

2 tsp Olive Oil

2 tsp Honey
1 tbsp Sugar

Tiny Container with Lid for storage

Let's get started!

     Olive Oil Lip Scrub

Step 1- Pour in the olive oil

Step 2- Pour the sugar into the oil and let it begin to dissolve

Step 3- Mix together until you get a pasty consistency.  If not thick enough, add more sugar.  If too many sugar crystals appear, add more oil.

You should end up with something of this consistency.

Honey Lip Scrub

Follow the same directions as for the olive oil scrub, only this time replacing the oil with honey.

The consistency should look something like this.  Notice that there are visible sugar crystals, but it is very pasty.

Both of these scrubs are super easy and fun to make and work wonders on dry lips.  The sugar crystals really exfoliate the dead skin and the oil or honey soothes your lips at the same time.  Just be careful, because a little goes a long way!  I like to make a new one every few days, so I only make a little in each batch.  However, if you need to travel with it and store it, you can make a batch and store it in your container.

In my opinion I like the olive oil scrub a tad better.  The honey one definitely tastes yummier and is lick-off-your-lips delicious, but in terms of benefits to your dryness, the olive oil is so smooth and wonderfully hydrates your lips.  Either way though, you can't go wrong!

I hope you guys enjoyed this quick DIY!  Have you ever tried a sugar scrub before?  What is your favorite beauty DIY?  Leave a comment down below!
