Travel Tips Thursday ~ Makeup Essentials for the Beach

Happy Thursday everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!  My day was full of eating, swimming, walking the dog, and just spending time with some family and friends.  The house I visited happened to be right across the beach so we all had a great time in the water and relaxing in the sun.  Although I don't like wearing too much makeup when I go to the beach, there are some essentials that I always take.

Keep reading to find out what's in the bag!

For a trip to the beach, I don't need much makeup so this bag suits my needs.  It's a LeSportsac bag that I picked up at Macy's a while back for about $25.00.  It's great because the outside is waterproof so if some water gets on it, it won't be ruined.  I also love how spacious it is.  It can fit a lot on the inside and also some essentials in the outside compartment.

Physician's Formula Healthy Skin Powder Foundation in Translucent Medium
Retails:  $15.00 at Drugstores

My absolute top essential would have to be this Physician's Formula Healthy Skin Powder Foundation in the shade Translucent Medium.  While I normally prefer liquid foundation, this powder is wonderful for those sweaty days when you want to absorb some of your oil.  It's also great for the beach since it has SPF 50!  By applying it to your face, you know that you can avoid some serious burns on the vulnerable parts of your face like the nose bridge and forehead.

NYC 16 Hour Lip Stain in 494 Smooch Proof
Retails:  $4.00 at Drugstores
When I go to the beach, I definitely plan to swim, meaning that any lipstick or gloss can be easily washed off.  To combat that I love using lip stain on the beach versus any other lip color since it has amazing staying power and will leave a nice color on your lips.  In addition, it goes on so smooth that it doesn't feel sticky or gross in the hot sun.

Smith's Rosebud Salve
Retails:  $6.00 at Sephora, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, etc.
Another essential is a good lip balm.  The hot sun can make our sensitive lips extremely dry and chapped.  Therefore, it is extremely important to have a good working lip balm that can restore moisture into your lips.  My current favorite is Smith's Rosebud Salve.  It's AMAZING for chapped lips and smells really great.

Q-Tips in Travel Pack
Retails:  $2-4 at Drugstores
For some easy touchups, I love bringing Q-Tips in a little travel case.  They always come in handy if some mascara runs or you want to wipe off some eyeshadow.  The travel case makes them super handy and easy to carry around.

Finally, some other must-have tools are my comb and nail filers.  I just bring a simple comb since hauling big brushes can be a pain.  While digging the the sand it is so easy to break a nail, and we all know how annoying hang nails can be.  Therefore, I just keep a simple nail file in my bag at all times so I can easily fix the problem.  I do't bring an expensive one just in case it falls in the water or I get it all sandy.

Do you bring any makeup to the beach?  What are your essentials?  Leave a comment down below!
